Alice + Olivia Wants Us To Get Into Their Pants

It's been 10 years since one of our faves, Alice + Olivia, launched their brand and they're going back to their roots… pants! To celebrate their decade milestone, Alice + Olivia launched their first ever global ad campaign in (where else?) the heart of Times Square, called "Get Into Our Pants". And, don't mind if we do! If you've noticed the matchbooks, coffee sleeves, bumper stickers, and condoms with the brand floating all over the city, you'll know this feisty campaign is really not meant to be subtle. Its cotton candy colors, neons, retro stripes, and bold florals grab our attention just as much as the tagline, and when you have Chelsea Tyler, (daughter of Steven Tyler) at the center of the campaign, how could the photos not turn heads? Oh, and not to mention their pants are uh-mazing? So, sure, we'll be happy to get in them.

Cold Removes Cellulite, & Other Lies NY Partiers Tell Themselves In Winter

We ladies are all too familiar with the horrible, dreaded feeling we get when we're invited to a you-could-stay-home-watching-SVU-but-the dude-in-that-band-with-the-dimples-will-be-there party — but (dang it!) it's in the dead of winter. Typically, we like to look super cute without having to sport our long johns. So, we're forced to make the crucial choice between A) staying warm by wearing our heaviest pullover or B) slipping into our sexy LBD and freezing our asses off. Too often we choose the latter and obviously highly regret it every time.

Yes, we've all been there, and so have these two uber-hilarious subway gals, Alexandra and Danielle from SRSLY The Show . Peep the video below where the two poke fun at the NYC winter style choices (that clearly don't adhere to our tips). They clueless twosome get some valuable advice to harm up to. For instance, did you know that wearing close-to-nothing helps blood flow, gets rid of toxins, and eliminates cellulite? Riiight. Watch away and be sure to keep those extra-chunky knits handy, and the teeny LBDs saved for another season.

Cheap Ticket: Kenzo's New Ads Are An Insta-Vacation

kenzo1

We totally loved Kenzo's spring '12 campaign when we saw it last fall, and we have to say that these new ads are totally bringin' it. Seriously, these bold, in-your-face looks on those totally fierce models are making us want to book a flight anywhere that's a lot warmer and more festive than here. This is the first collection designed by Opening Ceremony founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, and we're thinking that it's a total win: The duo stayed true to Kenzo's fun and eclectic spirit, while totally raising the sartorial bar and infusing the clothes with an elegance and sophistication like never before. Speaking of which, can we take a moment to bask in the beauty of these absolutely stunning models? We're hoping that whenever the Kenzo party is happening, these ladies will be there, too...but, we're guessing that'll be in spring, when the clothes finally hit stores. Sigh, is patience really a virtue?

Today In Ridiculous Rumors: Did Michelle Obama Spend $50K On Lingerie?

apslide According to The Telegraph, Michelle Obama helped boost luxe lingerie chain Agent Provocateur's sales after she spent $50,000 in one visit to the Madison Avenue outpost, accompanied by the Queen of Qatar, Sheikha Mozah. There are a few reasons we think this is purely rumor — mainly because it's an irresponsible move in an election year when the economy is on everyone's mind, but also because the British brand doesn't release the names of its famous customers. They are buying super-sexy undies, after all.

But okay, Telegraph — we'll play ball. If the First Lady indeed spent what equates to a sizable annual salary in the unmentionables shop, what do you think she scored? Our money's on the Classic Pyjamas, ringing up at $650 for the set, or the gorgeous French lace Matinee Kimono, which you can own for a cool $900. We're not sure if it's because we can't, or because we just don't want to, but we're just not seeing Michelle Obama shopping for, ahem, a playsuit — but be forewarned, the Agent peeps have a different, NSFW definition of "playsuit" than what you're probably expecting. It's Exactly As You'd Expect: Sh*t @OscarPRGirl Says

Hello, Oscar? It's us again. And for every single over-the-top, bewigged installment of "Shit X Says" born from the interwebs comes one that truly warms our Tweethearts: "Sh*t @OscarPRGirl Says." Starring Oscar de la Renta's very own Senior Vice President of Communications and internet fixture, Erika Bearman (aka @OscarPRGirl), alongside Lucky Style Editor John Jannuzzi (yes, bewigged), and fashion fameball Andrew Mukamal (not actually bewigged), this one-point-five-minute video follows a day in the life of @OscarPRgirl from dressing ("Oscar loves my hair like this."), to elevator chatter ("Oscar does the best greens."), office politics ("Does anyone have a hair thing?" "The re-tweet isn't working!"), to happy hour Instagram antics ("Valencia, that's my filter."). What a little pre-Fashion Week morsel of viral goodness—tall hair, fur, sick embroidery, and all.

Watch the video for yourself and tell us what you think in the comments below — are you totally delighting in this sartorial schadenfreude, or have you had enough of this shit?

Gossip Girl's Costume Designer Dishes All Of The On-Set Gossip, Girl

Ever watch Gossip Girl and find yourself salivating over Blair and Serena's every sartorial move? Okay, maybe that's an unnecessary question, not to mention a brutal understatement, but here's a better question: Ever wonder how the girls achieve that ever-present NY chicness? Whether the starlets are traveling, partying, or, getting married(eee!), Eric Daman is the costumer extraordinaire who helps them look the part.

In anticipation of the show's 100th episode, we sat down with Eric for some tips and testimonials to tide us over until the big day (tomorrow!). From his feelings about the absence of Little J Humphrey to his inspiration sources, Eric filled us in on the in's and out's of the coolest job ever.

Is there anything surprising that you have included maybe from major retailers that our readers could afford that we would be surprised to find out has made its way into the show?
"I think kind of the most surprising thing that we've done this season is for the 100th episode which is the wedding episode that the bridesmaids are actually wearing Vera Wang's line for David's Bridal which is called White. It was important to me to have that accessibility to kind of create this royal wedding and all this drama, but I knew we were doing a lot of interviews and I really think it's important to have our viewers at home feel like it's actually something accessible. I think when people are going into weddings and going through all that Bridezilla craziness that sometimes it's hard to remember that you can do affordable things and, you know, style it and make it look fabulous."

Do you take inspiration from real New Yorkers when you style these "fake" New Yorkers?
"New York itself is just such a great inspiration. I live in the East Village, just walking around Tompkins Square Park and just see so many great looking people and thinking, 'Oh that's a great way to put your scarf on,' or just little things like that. I think kind of why the show has, you know, such a trendful impact and it's different than other shows, is that we are New York and I've been in New York for 15 years and I've always been kind of passionate about New York fashion and how people really do get dressed up and really have their own style.  And it's just, every time I walk down the street I get inspired by something."

Um, Were Those Swastika Earrings in A Greenpoint Boutique?

Swastikaearrings_big Oh! This isn't good. A correspondent for Gowanus Lounge (the former online home of late, great blogger Robert Guskind) has stumbled upon an interesting sartorial controversy at the Bejeweled Boutique in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint 'hood: accessories shaped similarly to the infamous symbol of Hitler's Nazi Party. Scary, huh?

Well, turns out, not so much. First off, this "broken cross" needs to be turned the other way to represent the Third Reich. Secondly, during their encounter in the shop, the Gowanus Lounge reporter couldn't confirm if the accessories were of the anti-semitic variety or not. But a call placed to Bejeweled Boutique this morning verified that the earrings in the store are indeed inverted versions that the store sells for their Buddhist and Hindu customers – it is a holy symbol in both religions. In fact, the clerk was herself unaware of just how negatively most Americans (no matter their faith) view the swastika. She went on to note that – while they're sold out of the earrings in question – the boutique also sells crosses and other religious symbols (no word on the Star of David). So, unfortunate cultural collision? Probably. "Nazi Chic"? Definitely not. (Gowanus Lounge)

Which Cities Have The Most Pretentious Stores? The Answers Are Obvious

Serious shoppers know that the thing that makes or breaks a store (besides lackluster merchandise, of course) is its culture. Is everything behind closed glass? Did you barf when you saw the price of a sock? Do the shopgirls act like you think pants go on your face? An anonymous collection of shoppers ranked areas from the most pleasant to the snottiest based on their stores. New York's 5th Avenue (with stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Lord & Taylor, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Henri Bendel) came out near the bottom at number 26/30. Paris' Avenue des Champs-Elysées came out in the middle, ranking at number 15. The friendliest shops were located on Singapore's Orchard Road, Luxembourg's Avenue de la Liberté, and Istanbul's Bagdat Avenue. What do you think it is that makes a shop's culture so foul? Bad bagels (or baguettes)? (WWD)

Exclusive Sketches From The Cartier Vault And The Newest Trinity Pieces

There's probably no bigger or more impressive fan club than Cartier's. While Noami Watts, Rachel Zoe, Jennifer Aniston (and of course, yours truly) round out their collection of modern-day enthusiasts, it's French poet and filmmaker Jean Cocteau who was the OG Cartier trendsetter. A dear friend of the jewelery, in the '20s, Cocteau popularized the original Trinity Ring and the panther version of the triple band was actually inspired by the filmmaker's own wall-paper (bet you didn't know that one, huh!).

Fast-forward to today, and you'll find Cartier updating the Trinity line with black-and-white additions that leave no ounce of sophistication in the gray area. Along with the stunning new pieces, Cartier is releasing a series of Jean Cocteau's sketches from his arrival in New York in 1949, and, of course, we have the exclusive. Flip through for something old, something new, and something we really, really want ($1,350 pending).

tucker-embed

It's no wonder that Tucker by Gaby Basora ’s signature original prints made her collection for Target a huge success. But now, Basora's NYC-based label will be sold in a darling standalone shop of its own, on Soho's prestigious West Broadway stretch. Inside the brightly painted storefront, a colorful array of batik-style, silk-upholstered furniture awaits the adventurous NYC shopper, that's sure to pop in for wear-it-anywhere (and everywhere) pieces. We recommend you check out this new neighborhood staple when it opens tomorrow, December 2 — if for nothing else than the totally lustable maxi-dresses that'll make any girl feel like a grown-up gypsy princess.
