Ever since Unionmade’s stylish sister shop, Mill Mercantile, popped up in Noe Valley, we’ve been borderline obsessed with the wearable, tomboy-infused gal garments. But, what we tend to marvel at just as much as the tangible goodies, are the glossy, locally driven lookbooks the shop produces. Not only does Mill’s selection of images tell a captivating story, highlighting its latest wares, but they also introduce us to cool creatives in the Bay Area. Such is the case with the latest spring snaps, shot by Andrew Paynter, taking us on a beach-bound journey, following East Bay artist Jessica Niello to her paint-splashed studio and beyond.
If you’ve strolled across the bridge to buzzy Oakland joint Ramen Shop, you might have already seen Niello’s earthy creations in person — she crafted the beautiful ceramic bowls and the awe-inducing hanging sardine piece above the dining area. Naturally, we are thrilled to get to know the artist in such a personally candid and fashionable way. Ready to see what Niello’s all about — plus take a gander at Mill’s must-buy pieces? Click away!
