Meatpacking Madness: Chanel Pops Up At Jeffrey!

If Napoleon were alive today, he'd certainly be pleased with France's latest invasion—err, fashion-wise that is. Fresh on the heels of our bon-chic-bon-genre bash with Petit Bateau, another Parisian brand is waving its flag high above NYC. In what has to be the coolest pop-up news maybe ever, Chanel has opened a temporary boutique at the Meatpacking's mecca of cool, Jeffrey New York. The space conjures up France's warmer climes (specifically St. Tropez's Café Sénéquier, where the brand held its cruise show last May) with 1,000 square feet of red—umbrellas, tables, awnings, and beach cabins are all kitted up in the rosy hue. Jeffrey Kalinsky, the founder of the eponymous boutique, says the on-site Chanel is "a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." And for those of us who couldn't make it to the runway show (ahem, ahem), it's a chance to get away without really going away. Even if you can't afford one of those beach totes, you can take away your very own Chanel souvenir— snap up some of the free postcards featuring Georgia May Jagger and post 'em to your nearest and dearest. We suggest adding a fake French stamp for the full experience. (WWD)
