When we stepped foot inside Fifth Avenue's latest retail import — the massive doors of Spanish luxe-for(reasonably)-less label, Massimo Dutti — we were immediately struck by the attention to detail. The manse-like multi-level flagship (the brand's largest boutique in the world and first in the US) is well-stocked with womenswear, menswear, and accessories, but not overwhelmingly so. Look for a life-sized white horse that sits stoically on the marble floors of the ladies' department, sleek escalators, whimsical windows... and oh yeah, the clothes aren't too shabby either (including some clutch exclusive-to-NYC limited-edition items).
In fact, we find ourselves falling for Dutti's slightly equestrian, grownup staples almost as quickly as we've been collecting all of Zara's threads for the past few years (the two brands share a parent company). Indeed, if Zara is that cute new foreign exchange student you always stared at in Spanish class, Dutti's the hot foreign professor who made learning español even more fun. We think it's time to take the duds out for a night on the town... since they are, you know, new to the States and all.
