If your calendar is packed tight with galas, gallery openings, film premieres, and dinners with shahs, your everyday closet is probably composed with Marchesa, which probably makes some of the most interesting, breathtaking evening wear this side of couture. But if by chance your day-to-day looks more like birthday parties at the local dive bar, the occasional after-work hangout at your friend's new apartment, and — you know — going to the office, Marchesa is probably not on your rack. Until now.
We've finally got a look at Marchesa Voyage, the new contemporary diffusion line from Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, which actually includes lounge pants, trim jackets, wrap dresses, and matching co-ords. Of course, this being Marchesa, the entire line is dripping with fine embroidery, embellishments, and gilded extras like lace socks and golden headbands. Sure, Chapman and Craig might be considering this more of a "loungewear" collection ("The Marchesa in her palazzo," Chapman told WWD), but this level of "casual" still warrants a voyage a little bit further than our couches.
