As fashion editors, it is our job to know designer collections. That's how we forecast trends and styles that'll be important. And, if you've ever lost a few hours on Style.com (guilty!), clicking through lookbook after lookbook, you know the recurring themes designers call upon for inspiration. Hint: This spring includes lots of plastic flamingos and skateboarding dudes.
But, don't be fooled by the pretty palm trees and cloud-filled skies, the world of lookbook is an odd (if not extreme) place. It's an eclectic and disproportionately skewed landscape of decadently dressed models posing on top of superfluously placed blocks, sitting on (and in) many things, and standing against staircases. Brooding. Ordinary things like work and dining out simply don't exist in this fashion-focused universe. And, once you start noticing these similarities, you won't be able to stop. But, fear not — these clothes are gorgeous.
