These days, it's easy to forget that travel used to be glamorous, especially when we're paying for food in airlines and our ship travel is restricted to the Staten Island Ferry. This month, a new exhibition of the interior artifacts of the Art-Deco masterpiece, the SS Normandie, which carried passengers like Ernest Hemingway, Marlene Dietrich, Salvador Dali, and Grace Kelly, will give us a little slice of that old-world glam. In celebration of the exhibition, Jeremy Scott has designed a special exhibition T-shirt, and Lalique, one of the original designers of the ship's interiors, has created a limited-edition version of their Cabouchon ring that will carry a special Normandie engraving (we want one!). The exhibition, where the specially commissioned pieces can also be purchased, will run through January 2011 at the South Street Seaport Museum...that's plenty of time to get our nautical-chic vibe back up to snuff.
