This Jewelry Designer Will Make Necklaces Out Of Your Old Stuff

Here at Refinery29, we always love trading coveted shopping secrets, so get close and listen up. Today we bring you Jennifer George, a New York local whose basically a modern-day treasure hunter. Jennifer, a former clothing designer who sold to stores like Barneys and Bergdorf's, now finds her calling in jewelry, accessories, and even umbrellas! And a good thing, too—George has a meticulous sense of detail; every inch of her pieces show hallmarks of her shopping finds. Her necklaces are composed of oodles of charms, which she unearths at various flea markets and vintage shops, meaning no two offerings are the same. That's probably why the likes of Oprah, Susan Sarandon, Madonna, Rihanna, and Miley Cyrus (at this year’s Kid’s Choice Awards) are big fans of the un-copy-able loot. Our favorite part of the Jennifer George experience? Her line of personalized necklaces: Bring her a bag of treasured items (keys, dice, your grandmother's ring, beads, charms, etc.), and she'll work them into a unique, one-of-kind necklace. Though George is based out of her Upper West Side home-studio, if you don’t live in New York, you can still send her your items…and you won’t be disappointed with the end result. Read on for an interview with the style maven herself. What a treasure!
