Name: Jamie Tisdale
Occupation: Yoga Instructor
Why we snapped her: Because her long, healthy, shiny locks made us green with envy!
Her haircare secret: Jamie uses all organic shampoo and conditioner and takes a minimalist approach to styling. She doesn't use any hot tools to keep it, “the way nature intended it to be.” Her favorite products? John Masters Organics.
Name: Avalon Petersen
Why we snapped her: Because her flaming-red mane made us want to make a beeline for the colorist!
Her haircare secret: Avalon loves salt water and the way it makes her natural waves frizz-free. To re-create her look, she says to spray your hair with salt water (homemade or Bumble & bumble) and put it in a tight bun. Once it’s dry, shake it out, and go.
Name: Eileen Lee
Occupation: Brand Strategy Manager
Why we snapped her: We love this modern take on a Louise Brooks bob.
Her haircare secret: We spotted Eileen fresh from the salon. “I just got it cut by Gareth Bromell at The Neil George Salon,” she said. “My hair used to be beachy, but now I feel like a '90s supermodel.”
Name: Olivia Coleman
Why we snapped her: This twisted ponytail is the new side braid!
Her haircare secret: Olivia’s rope is a unique twist on the summer braid. Even better? It’s so basic your boyfriend could do it. To re-create this look simply take two sections of hair and twist each section counter-clockwise. Then twist the two sections clockwise. Secure with an elastic band and voila!
Name: Margaret Wackerly
Occupation: Orders at Linea Pelle
Why we snapped her: Her choppy, blond ‘do is quintessential Cali cool.
Her haircare secret: When it came to cut or color, Margaret went with cut. And she did it herself, chopping bangs as an alternative to dying her hair. To get better texture, Margaret recommends using Victoria’s Secret Style Cream.
Name: Tania Del Rio
Occupation: Comic Artist
Why we snapped her: Because the girl can seriously rock this blond pompadour.
Her haircare secret: About a year ago, Tania ditched her long, dark hair and opted for a LaRoux-inspired cut. She likes playing around with different shapes and credits Bed Head’s Mega Hold Hairspray for this style.
Name: Mijoy Fields
Occupation: Operations Manager at DimePiece
Why we snapped her: Because the top-bun is easy and breezy for a warm summer day.
Her haircare secret: Mijoy keeps it simple with a summer classic: The top-bun. “It’s always in a bun,” her friend chimes in. To spice things up, she added a dash of purple color in the back.
Name: Jet Luna
Why we snapped her: Tiny braids and pink tips make Jet’s hair anything but dull.
Her haircare secret: Extension accessories are in this summer and Jet has some of the coolest we’ve seen. She’s got chains, feathers, even a guitar pick. To minimize washing her hair, Jet uses baby powder to keep it fresh.
Name: Vanessa Lauren
Occupation: Culinary Artist
Why we snapped her: Because this pixie cut makes us want to lop off our long locks—and get a feather tattoo, too.
Her haircare secret: Some people get a tattoo to go along with their hair transformation—Vanessa is one of them. Her friend Dan, at Black Bandits in Hollywood, is responsible for this summer ‘do. Just throw on a headband, and you’re set.
Name: Gaia Goldenbrown
Why we snapped her: We couldn’t take our eyes off Gaia’s mesmerizing Mohawk.
Her haircare secret: Gaia’s hair is low-maintenance, and she uses zero products. Her biggest upkeep? “Shaving the smiley face in.”
