The winter blues (a.k.a. grays and blacks) bringing down your wardrobe? We've got a solution for you: pastels. Powdery pinks, baby blues, and cool mints are trending, and they provide a pretty counterpoint to the edgy leather pants, tough moto boots, and other tomboy staples we rely on to get us through the season. Moreover, they're an instant mood lifter to combat the inevitable case of SAD. What's not to love?

If the idea of incorporating these quintessentially springtime shades into your wintry mix scares you, don't worry. We've asked Venezuelan-born, Miami-based Daniela Ramirez — the blogger behind Nany's Klozet — for her advice on wearing pastels year-round. (You better believe she's an expert, currently living in a modernist pastel paradise herself.) Here, she picks 10 delicately hued styles — all from Nordstrom Rack — that even the most chromophobic of us can embrace.

    The Powdery Pants
"We think of pastels as a spring color, but it’s always about how you wear them," says Ramirez. "You can pair pastel pants with leather to edge them up a little." We recommend investing in jeans that have a slight tinge of lavender, which can be worn with a classic moto jacket and Chelsea booties to winterize the look.

    The Soft Blazer
A tip for all you office dwellers: "I would definitely incorporate pastel into a blazer," suggests Ramirez. "It's still professional and can be easily taken from day to night." Not as stodgy as a basic black blazer, yet not too casual — happy hour, here you come.

    The Delicate Cami
When it comes to working pastels into your outfits, an easy trick is to start with the innermost layer — adding heavier elements on top balances out the soft shade. "I like pairing pastel colors with leather pieces and chunky accessories, like a gold chain necklace," suggests Ramirez on how to toughen up a delicate hue.

    The Milky Shades
"I have learned to invest in higher-quality pieces when it comes to essentials," says Ramirez. Case in point: You're always going to need sunglasses, even in the winter months. Select a pair of specs that will shield your eyes throughout the snowy season and transition straight into springtime.
