Anyone who’s been wedding dress shopping can attest to the fact that it isn’t always easy to narrow it down to "the one." So it makes sense that more brides are deciding to don two different gowns for their big day. The more the merrier, right?

But when Hayley Paige, who designs bridal wear for a living, was planning her own wedding, she took it to the next level. Paige opted for not two, not three, but four different looks for her North Lake Tahoe nuptials to husband Danny Wallis.

The NYC-based designer selected each dress for a specific purpose, with styles that ranged from a modern crop top gown to a classic and sparkly floor-length stunner.

"I think it’s important to tell more than one story," Paige tells us. "I felt like this was such a celebratory platform to go over-the-top and see what I could pull off. If I had more time, there would have been more gowns."

Ahead, gorgeous photos from the couple’s epic day, which boasted fairytale-esque touches like a blue-hued unicorn, a boat, confetti canons, and of course, four head-turning outfit changes.

Paige's first dress of the day was a custom, hand-painted couture gown, which she wore to the church.

"The artwork was derived from the stained glass windows in our Catholic church," she tells us. "The flowers were hand-painted and then embellished to give that translucent watercolor effect! The lavender coloring was inspired by my mom because that has always been her favorite color. I felt like a modern day Aurora from Sleeping Beauty."

The bridesmaids all wore custom Hayley Paige dresses. "I loved the novelty of me being in color and my girls wearing white," says Paige.

"I also wanted them to stand out and feel special, so incorporating sparkle was paramount. Each dress was custom designed and guided by their individual style and personality. From intricate straps to low backs, they looked like a shimmering tribe of fairies. "

For the outdoor reception, Paige wore a gorgeous ballgown-slash-crop top dress.

"I took my favorite Hayley Paige signature ballgown silhouette, and added splashes of color in the dimensional floral motifs," she says.

"This embellishment was also hand-painted and subtly beaded throughout. The bodice had more of a modern feel. And of course, I went for a cropped top for this look, simply because I just wanted to have some fun and be a little brazen."

The bride's tableau of sparkling jewels. "The jewels were custom designed by Haute Bride. It pays to have a generous friend of bling in this industry," says Paige.

"She made my tiara, head piece, and earrings, and also frosted all my bridesmaids and family members. With that iridescent theme in mind, the jewels added those perfect touches of quartz, moonstone, alabaster, and rose gold."

And, last but not least: A slinky reception gown!

"My reception gown was inspired by holograms and comets. I wanted that explosion of sparkle, but not in a traditional rhinestone way. To achieve that iridescent effect, I worked with unusual alabaster stones and satin finished elements that become prismatic in the light," she tell us. "I wanted to shine bright and shimmy all night! This was also the sexiest look of the day, and naturally the one my husband appreciated the most."
