A Green-Fashion Queen’s Urban Adventures

We used to think eco fashion was a little too…earthy for our tastes. That is, until we discovered FASHIONmeGREEN, where Greta Eagan dishes on her favorite earth-friendly fashion and beauty finds, and shows off a city-chic wardrobe that’s as sophisticated as it is sustainable.
This nature-loving lady also happens to be a certified expert in the best green, eco, and just plain-old fun escapes inside the concrete jungle that is NYC. Adding big-city edge to her eco ensembles with chic — yet walkable! — Timberland boots, Greta shows us the shops where she gears up for weekend adventures, and the café where she escapes from the big-city buzz. It’s the ultimate urban hit-list for the girl who's green at heart. Join us on the (concrete) trail.
Strada
Strada Customs
Your best bet for two-wheeled, pedal-powered chic in the entire city.
“This summer I got really into biking around the city — taking an hour ride on the Westside bike path. Strada really hits the mark with pop bike culture. You can put together a great street bike customizing all the pieces with the colors that you love. I also like to go for a run to unwind. I head down through Tribeca and make my way over to the Westside footpath, then along the water towards Battery Park. I love seeing the boats and the Statue of Liberty off in the distance.”

Before you hit the Chinatown crowds, start off with a quiet cup of coffee at this low-key spot.
“I live on the border of Chinatown and Little Italy. It’s super vibrant with sidewalk markets full of fresh fish and smelly Chinese herbs, and waiters complimenting you to entice you into their restaurant! You have to try The Mulberry Project, an underground bar on Mulberry Street. The door isn’t marked, but they have the most amazing cocktails made with seasonal fresh ingredients.”

Warm
Warm
Stop in for a little West-Coast ray of fashion sunshine in the middle of our gray concrete jungle.
“If I’m styling a photoshoot, I need to be comfortable and ready to be on my feet all day. I also love a little added height, so my stacked-heel Timberlands are perfect. My fave go-to is a T-shirt tucked in the front into a pair of slouchy pants from Eileen Fisher and a cropped leather jacket or relaxed blazer. Warm is a boutique after my California-girl heart. I grew up spending holidays in Newport Beach, so I love Warm's surfer-cool vibe and tons of key pieces to pack on a warm-weather trip."

Sweet William
With its environmentally and ethically responsible stock, this is the place to start your little one's style off right.
“The cool thing about my neighborhood is that it has its own strong identity, and still feels like it is growing into what it wants to be. There are a lot of longtime established restaurants and buildings where families have lived for generations, and yet the location makes it an up-and-coming hot spot in Manhattan for unique stores (like Sweet William.) You can see the chic influences, while differentiating the area with some of Chinatown and Little Italy’s quirks and inherent charms.”
