Our love of shoes knows no bounds. We'll queue for an hour in subzero weather to get into a sample sale that promises perfect booties. We'll stop women in the street to ask where they got their ballet flats. And, we're definitely not afraid to take a stroll through the men's footwear department in search of our perfect pair of oxfords.
The truth is, we love so many classic dude shoes, and we often wish they were made for women. And, we don't mean in a daintier, pointier form, either. We want brogues with deliciously thick leather, substantially soled Chelsea boots, and monk-strap steppers with some gravitas. That's why we had a literal eye-popping moment when we saw Grenson's spring '14 lookbook. The British brand's been handcrafting shoes since the 1800s and offers a range of classic men's styles, beautifully made for women.
From tassel loafers to cap-toe lace-ups, many styles come in classic black or cognac leather or more fashion-forward white and metallic leather. With prices beginning at $380, these are certainly investment pieces. But, this is a brand with a rep for making hard-wearing, quality kicks for more than 100 years. And, it feels more sensible to spend on wear-forever classics than the latest trend shoe.
