Todd Snyder And Gap Help Starving Artists One T-Shirt At A Time
It's no surprise that
(formerly of J. Crew, Ralph Lauren, and his own eponymous, CFDA-nominated line) will be curating Gap's latest pop-up shop (located next door to the Gap NYC flagship boutique on 5th Avenue and 54th Street), which will continue the brand's partnership with Threadless
, a charitable T-shirt company that supports emerging artists by selling limited-run pieces printed with the up-and-comers' designs. Snyder came to the all-American company with the idea of producing his own shop-in-shop, where he's debuting 16 men's shirts and 10 women's shirts, as well as select toddler and baby items, all of which retail for $29.95.
Short video clips accompany each of the tees, giving you background information on the artist and his or her work (and an awesome story to tell whenever you get compliments). The temporary boutique will be open until Saturday, June 30, but don't worry if you can't make it by then. The Gap + Threadless collection is also available online
. While Snyder didn't scoop up the CFDA award last night (insert sad-face here), in our books he's still winning. (NBC New York
