When in Pilsen, your #1 must-do is a trip to Workshop, where you'll be greeted by Annie Novotny. Among her gorgeous wares, you'll find Novotny's own line, Frei Designs, fashion fueled by the desire to create refined, stylish pieces produced conscientiously. When you click through her absolutely gorgeous lookbook, keep in mind that the clothes are just as inspiring as the story of how they came to be. Novotny focuses on sustainability in design, and uses organic cottons, fair-trade and hand-woven silks, and dead-stock vintage prints to compose her beautiful, ethereal collections. Every piece is produced locally in Chicago, just another reason why we love Frei Designs, and why we're so proud of this local heroine.

Frei Designs, available at Workshop, 818 West 18th Street (between Halsted Street and Newberry Avenue); 312-226-9000.
