Gwyneth Gushes: What It's Like To Be Shot For The Cover Of A Magazine
Perhaps you've forgotten that the half-nakie blonde bombshell on the cover of
Harper's Bazaar
also happens to be the same singin', dancin', cookin', and sometimes goofy GOOP lady, as well. Today we were reminded of this salient fact when we caught wind of the behind-the-scenes story that captures all the action of the cover shoot — from racks upon racks upon racks of wardrobe options (yes, we die) to beauty touch up after touch up. One of our favorite moments? When the nearly 40-year old unintentionally presents a rather close competition of "Who Wore It Better" against Karlie Kloss—they both wore the same Anthony Vaccarello dress. While we wont pick a winner (because, well, it's nearly impossible), stylist Andrew Richardson did point out that Gwyn's overall outfits called for a more mature woman. "She's a gorgeous woman who is confident in her body, and I think it's much sexier to see these looks on her, rather than a 19-year-old model," he says. While the leading lady admits that she's not accustomed to such steamy attire, even behind the scenes, we don't suspect for a second that she's anything but a natural. Our New Favorite Olsen Hits The Cover Of ASOS
Not that we've given up on The Twins, but with an impressive turn in Martha Marcy May Marlene and a budding career as an indie darling, Elizabeth is the Olsen sister with the most currently exciting trajectory – and style. Her approach to mixing sophisticated pieces (Céline, Isabel Marant, Marni with true teen picks — think cut-off jeans and colorful tops) is softer and lighter than her more famous siblings.
And that's one of the major reasons we so dug into her new ASOS magazine Todd Cole editorial and interview as soon as it popped up over here. Wearing armfuls of ASOS, Levi's, and a touch of her sisters' Elizabeth and James (half-named for her, if you didn't already know) in a teen-scrapbook style photoshoot, Lizzie masters a light, colorful look we'll be sure to replicate come spring, and offers tidbits on growing up Olsen, in a must-read interview. This Bi-Polar Editorial Really Doesn't Get Miami
Yes, Miami weather is weird. Yes, it can go from blazingly hot in the sun to needing a serious sweater in the shade, and when the winter clouds hide el sol, we can't entirely decide whether to keep the AC on or turn it off. But clearly we're a town with the fashion savvy to deal.
And that's why this editorial by Michael David Adams, featured on DesignScene, is so curious. In it, a model dons typical Miami fare: bonkers sky-high heels, colorblocked tanks, and, um, fur coats? Cashmere blends? Thick trenches? Sure, the rest of the nation is shivering, but rarely does the Magic City need to button up that seriously. Of course, we love playing with volume, but this shoot feels a little bi-polar (rarely will we wear a monokini with a camel coat, but whatevs). What do you think?
