Kate Moss Is Jamaica-Me-Crazy Beautiful In Harper's Bazaar

Kate Moss looking amazing in photos is not exactly news, per se, but always exciting nonetheless. In the latest shots that we're loving, great Kate takes to the shores of Jamaica with Harper's Bazaar to dazzle us in Alexander McQueen, YSL, Calvin Klein, and all the other dreamy designers we'd pack for a tropical vacay, too (well, maybe in our dreams).

Miss Moss takes up serious real estate in the June/July issue of the magazine, as she appears center stage in a 20-page editorial, as well on the cover. Shot on location by Terry Richardson, the photos not only catch the 38-year-old looking ever the picture of perfection, but also capture the muse's playful side as she takes in the awe-inspiring island sights of Jamaica. The issue will be available May 29, but, ahead, we've got a peek at some of our favorite pics and the striking cover. For even more of the chic and sandy shots, click over to Harper's Bazaar.

Crash A '90s Party At The Versace Mansion, Thanks To Vault Magazine

If there is anything that Miami knows, it might be the "art" of being social. Or so thinks Barton G. Weiss, the creator of Miami's — and the rest of the magazine industry's — most luxurious new title, Vault Magazine. Meant as a collector's item, the quarterly publication covers fashion, party-going, and celebrity with lush full-color pages and heaps (and heaps) of style history.

Since Barton G. is the brains behind The Villa (for those non-Miamians, that's the hotel that is based in Versace's old mansion), one of the best spreads of the debut issue imagines a group of youngsters crashing a rager in the manse's gilded halls. New snaps of socialites and designers are mixed with vintage photos, and the Versaces themselves make an appearance in this time-bending editorial. Shot by Roxanne Lowit and featuring vintage jewelry from C. Madeleine's, this is a 305 shoot through and through, letting readers get an instant, Medusa-themed contact high (with a young, handsome Mickey Rourke!). The entire folio isn't all Magic City-based, but this flamboyantly beautiful, hedonistic pictorial makes us glad to call this place home. And maybe do a quick shot or two?

Spidey Smokeshow: Andrew Garfield Smolders, Talks Sex In VMAN

Right now, you're either fairly grossed out or unduly intrigued. Seems that when Andrew Garfield, the new star of the upcoming, NY-centric Amazing Spider-Man (and the owner of one of the best heads of hair in the biz), auditioned for the role of Peter Parker, his casting call fell on the same day as fellow washboard-chested Brit Jamie Bell. His interviewer (and former Spider-Man star himself, Tobey MaGuire) got to hear all about process in the newest issue of VMAN: "When you take off that bodysuit someone else is going to be stepping into your sweat immediately after. It’s a weird kind of cattle call." Yikes! We hope showers and Purell were made available to all applicants — though we're sure more than a few fan girls (and boys) would love to get their hands on the sample Spidey suit worn by Garfield, Bell, and, apparently, half of this generation's crop of young, fit actors. Keep your eyes on eBay!

Click on the slideshow for clips of Inez & Vinoodh's great black-and-white shots and check out VMAN's new issue for the complete interview and full-sized photographic Garfield goodness. (VMAN)

Francisco Costa Doesn't Believe In Diet Coke, Makes Homes For His Cats

costa-interview-1We love getting inside the head of a designer, and when it's one of our favorite favorite contemporary artists doing the probing, so much the better. This month's Interview delivers a great tête à tête between Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa and photographer Ryan McGinley that's as frank a discussion of sexuality, childhood, and creative processes as you're liable to read.

Up for discussion are both Costa's and McGinley's personal sexual awakenings, how their upbringings inspired their work, and other heavy business including family deaths. Lightening the load are a few fun revelations: Despite Calvin Klein's spartan aesthetic, Costa admits he hates the word "minimalism" (surprise, surprise) and prefers "reductionist," cops to wearing the tightest Speedos possible (yikes), used to make homes for his family cats, and hates Diet Coke even though he works in an industry seemingly fueled by it (brave man). Cutest of all, he claims that when he arrived in New York in 1985 without being to speak a word of English, he communicated with people in clubs through the "Language of love!" For a man who's famous for creating white sheath dresses, his story is all sorts of colorful. (Interview Magazine)

Does Vogue's Ban Of Underage And Anorexic Models Go Far Enough?

vogue-thin-may-1Did we just witness the first truly eventful step toward industry-wide responsible editorial casting? Condé Nast International has just released a statement effectively and almost immediately banning models either under the age of 16 or suffering from an eating disorder from appearing in 19 international editions of Vogue (including Anna Wintour’s U.S. title).

Undersigned by Chairman Jonathan Newhouse, the six-point statement seems to have a great deal of force behind it. Though phrases like “knowingly” and “appear to” dull its sharpness, the pact could represent a welcome attitude adjustment for the world’s preeminent (and perhaps most criticized) fashion title. Proposing the use of verifiable I.D.s for young models, better working conditions, and various support programs is particularly laudable.

The statement also reads, “We will be ambassadors for the message of a healthy body image,” and, “We will work with models who, in our view, are healthy and help to promote a healthy body image.” Encouraging, yes. But it seems the power to craft a title’s particular concept of a, “healthy body,” and decide which models, “appear to have an eating disorder,” remains with the very editors who may be responsible for perpetuating the problem the pact addresses. Anna Wintour, for example, may still determine U.S. Vogue’s physical ideal.

Only time — and many Vogue issues — will tell if she and the hundreds of Vogue editors around the world will rise to the challenge of this statement. But it’s a good start and, maybe, a good day for fashion. (New York Times)

Read the statement here and tell us, is Vogue doing enough?

Ke$ha Covers V, Talks Being Dirty, Bieber, & Britney

When we think of Dirty Pop we used to think of N*Sync and N*Sync only, but with her raspy, screamed lyrics, grungy hair, and ripped tights, Ke$ha is becoming more and more the definitive Dirty Pop icon. And it looks like that's something we can agree on! For her cover spread in V Magazine's Americana issue out May 10, (yes, we said cover spread), Ke$ha admitted “I do feel like there are the pop stars of the world and then I’m like their dirty little sister, running around with shit on my face in combat boots because I can’t walk in heels." Shit on her face indeed; The V photo spread shows K crying with smudged American flag face paint (as well as "glamour" shots with windblown hair).

Ke$ha also dished that she'd love to collab with with a range of artists wider than her teased locks, "I would love to have Keith Richards on the record. I would sure as hell like to do a collaboration with Bieber and at the same time do a song with the Flaming Lips." While we'd be interested to hear what those tracks sound like, we recommend that K stick with the pop thing for now, no matter how filthy it may be. And hey, if she's looking to link up with someone, at least it looks like Britney's a fan —the queen of pop says that she listens to her "dirty little sister's" songs on the treadmill. Us too, Brit, us too. Click through for all the pics and tell us if you think this is patriotic, then read the whole interview over at V.
