7 Tips For Dressing Your Home In Tropical (Not Cheesy!) Decor
With BBQs, pool parties, and breezy evening drinks filling your at-home entertaining agenda, summer is a great time to revamp your living space. We love the tropical flavor that Magic City brings, but sometimes getting that particular MIA ambiance in your home can result in one too many plastic flamingos and palm fronds. So, while adding color and regional decor is fun, any decor guru knows that without a sophisticated touch, it’s easy to lean more Buffett than beachy. To strike the right balance, we chatted up Jesse Brody of Circle Art At Home for tips and tricks on tropical decor that leave grandma-esque prints where they belong — with Nana.
8 Runway-Inspired Items For A Not-So-Basic Black And White Abode
Let's put it this way: We've been spending a lot of time on Pinterest, searching the term "cabana." But, in truth, we don't even have a pool. That doesn't mean we can't dream, right? Amid exploring countless color-soaked boards, we knew we'd found the perfect combination of summery and beach chic when we caught wind of this fresh Spring '12 Moschino look. It's the ideal inspiration for our fantasy poolside chill chamber!
But intersecting organic down-to-earth neutrals with streaks of black and white doesn't have to be confined to our pipe-dream pool house. This graphic palate is also a great foundation for one's current L.A. interior to keep things feeling warm, light, and just dressed up enough all year long.
The key is to pare things down with neutral weaves and kick it up with just the right amount of sleek ebony to keep things feeling crisp. So,if when that fantasy hilltop Mid-Century modern becomes a reality, your décor will be prepped and ready to move right in!

Meet Pieces: Atlanta's Darling Home Store You Need To Know
Since 2004, Pieces — a charming home store in the Buckhead district of Atlanta — has been offering a carefully curated mix of (mostly) vintage items that have been reupholstered, repainted, and reworked into one-of-a-kind, well, pieces. Carrying everything from chandeliers to tables and cabinets, designer and proprietor Lee Kleinhelter wanted to find a happy medium market for those who don't want to shell out major bucks for pricey antiques, but also don't want to settle for IKEA (not that there's anything wrong with a little IKEA). Indeed, that seems like a large gap to fill, but her expertise in the industry and keen eye for crisp, imaginative, and sleek home style has helped this Southern business woman meet her goals. Along with her professional partner-in-crime and personal partner-in-life, her husband Kevin Kleinhelter of K2 Construction, the two have also managed to collaborate on building houses from the inside out. In an awesome and creative power coupling, he constructs and she designs — with the gorgeous selects from Pieces, of course.
Without taking a trip down South just yet (although her store is definitely worth the hike), we were able to get a peek at this charming home-decor staple that may not necessarily be "big city," but is packed with BIG style and inspiration for any interior. Click through for all the snaps of Lee's Atlanta shop. (Pinners get ready, these pics may need a place on your boards).

How To Bring Moroccan Souk Style To Your 600 Square Feet
Not all of us can rest our heads on a woven berber nestled deep in the lap of a colorful, chic Moroccan paradise that's been a preferred vacation spot and source of inspiration for rock stars and fashion designers alike. Yes, even though she's worked hard to create her own little slice of well-decorated heaven in Marrakech — building her own home, the Peacock Pavilions boutique hotel, and her unconscionably addictive design blog My Marrakesh — Maryam Montague should be counted as one of the lucky ones.
Thankfully, this expert in the distinct local blend of design, architecture, décor, and lifestyle —an aesthetic whose fan base includes everyone from the Rolling Stones to Yves Saint Laurent — isn't above sharing her good fortune. Not only has she just released Marrakesh By Design — a new book filled with advice on bringing Moroccan aesthetics to houses high and low — she's also handing out tips on capturing souk style for any of you R29 readers looking to bring a little bit of boho paradise home to your tiny roosts.

Take Care Of Your Knits At Home: Win A Year's Supply Of SOAK + A Cardigan!

You don't have to confess here, but we all let our laziness take over our laundry duties every once in a while and end up machine washing our delicates, closeting stale sweaters instead of wearing them, and going far too long without a visit to the dry cleaners. But now, there's a still-lazy, but less dirty solution. For all you laundry offenders out there, there's SOAK, a no-rinse wash that cleans your delicates, knits, and handwashables without having to actually get too down and dirty. And because we love you lazy bumpkins so much, we're giving away a year's supply of SOAK along with a CARDIGAN knit to three lucky knit-wit R29ers, so leave a comment with your real email address about your most beloved sweater and we'll choose three winners at random. For those of you who don't care to hedge your bets, pick up a St. Martin Lace Crew top (a guaranteed winner in your summer wardrobe) and you'll receive a free bottle of the "Lacey" wash, as part of CARDIGAN by Lynne Hiriak's Weekly Specials (new goodies are offered up on CARDIGAN every Thursday!).

Inside Our Senior Editor's Very Small (But Very Chic!) East Village Studio
You've already partied with Kristian in his East 11th Street apartment. While some of you considered our Senior Editor's studio a tad, uh, small for entertaining, he promises you're always welcome to stop by for a gimlet — but no more than three at a time, please. Now, Michael Mundy's blog, An Afternoon With..., is giving you a bigger (get it?) peek inside his jam-packed pad, complete with Samanatha Hahn's framed illustrations, Stubbs & Wootton and Del Toro slippers aplenty, and lots of red, white, and blue. The site, which, profiles the digs of New Yorkers over the course, of, duh, an afternoon, has spotlighted the home personalities of everyone from a dog walker to a porn star, with some designers, artists, and poets thrown in there for good measure. With no assistant, styling, or retouching (to the chagrin of Kristian's wrinkled rug), iconic photographer Michael Mundy — who has shot for the likes of Vogue and W — aims to provide readers with descriptive narratives of his subjects that are equally unvarnished as they are revealing. Celebrating its second year, we recommend you click through and spend some time (or an afternoon) trolling through Mundy's site. And, if you're in the hood, holla at KL. He's always down for visitors, if you don't mind getting cozy. (An Afternoon With...)

6 Must-Buys For The Hostess With The Mostest
As April draws to a close, Memorial Day is officially in sight (yeehaw!), and the invitations have started pouring in for barbecues, birthdays, and beach weekends. But showing up empty handed? Not cool. Whether you're headed to a casual dinner or three nights on the coast, show your host (and everyone else) that your mother raised you right by arriving with a thoughtful gift. Sure, a bottle of rosé is always welcome, but we know your friends will appreciate you going the extra mile with something a bit more distinct.
Where to start, you ask? When we give gifts we love to bestow something we'd love to get ourselves (so, when it's our bestie's birthday that usually means YSL makeup) but in the case of a fabulous host or hostess we cast a bit of a wider net. These beauts are sure to charm the party planner regardless of gender, age, or aesthetic. So, click through for our sweetest picks. You'll be invited back if you toss your host one of these babies, trust.

This Is What A $460 Door-Shaped Sticker Looks Like
Does your apartment suffer from a distinct lack of extra doors? Luckily Net-A-Porter just began selling Maison Martin Margiela's trompe-l'oeil door adhesive print — a punny, cheeky $460 decal created in partnership L'ATELIER d'exercices that mimics the appearance of a stylishly weathered exit.
Unfortunately, this door doesn't come with its own room behind it (as the price might suggest). Nonetheless, we think it will be a hit with any fans of Belgian minimalism currently serving time in solitary confinement (if they can get to a computer, that is).Image: via Net-A-Porter
