This Brooklyner’s Up For “Roommate Of The Year” (Plus $10,000 Cash)

As we've seen before in Craigslist postings and, ahem, personal experience, a good roommate is hard to find. Luckily for Brooklyn's Matthew Cooper, not only is he one of ten finalists in Apartments.com's annual "Roommate of the Year" contest, but he also says his 65-year old roomie "Ms. Jackson" is an equally pleasurable 'mate. Despite their 40-year age difference, the duo has lived together for two years, with Ms. Jackson cooking dinner for her 23-year old roomie and Cooper helping carry bags and choose lottery numbers in return.
Not that we haven't been excited (and, let's face it, entertained) by every one of the contests over the past four years, but as loyal New Yorkers, we're bursting with pride to know that one of our own is up for the title. If Cooper wins, not only will he win a pretty enviable title, but he'll also win a free year's rent and $10,000 cash (really). Check out his aww-dorable video and vote here and take a peek at the other nine finalists that stand in his way on the contest home page. Better hurry, the contest ends July 6th!
