has been poking around these parts of late, and has now claimed our dear city as the tastiest in the country, besting the big boy that is New York City. "At each moment in history, there's a city or region that chefs have to visit to learn what's going on in American cooking,” GQ scribe Alan Richman writes. “Right now it's San Francisco, where restaurants of ambition and imagination are opening.” Richman goes on to give shout-outs to local hotspots like Mission Chinese Food, Benu, Atelier Crenn, Sons & Daughters, Commonwealth, Commis, Flour + Water, and good ol' Chez Panisse before recommending his fave dishes at each venue. While the article, aptly titled "I Heart S.F.," isn’t online yet, Grub Street San Francisco has a solid summary. Read it here or go pick up the magazine.
