At first glance, this orange flash appears to be a sculpture in the desert. But, it's actually a splash of paint. The photo series, "Colourant" by Cassandra Warner and Jeremy Floto of Floto + Warner, shows what happens when brilliant-hued liquids are captured at 1/3500 of a second. According to the two, it's "a fleeting moment that blocks and obscures the landscape, a momentary graffiti of air and space." In a word: stunning.
Colors this electric can't help but inspire a desire to see more and more, and, in this case, we want to bring the dazzling jolts home with us. We found five decor essentials — from a tangerine candle to a lime-green dining room chair — that will give any room about nine volts of liveliness. Short of investing in a Floto + Warner original, our incandescent picks are the best way to bring that color home; no messy splashing required.
