8 Indie Shows To Check Out ASAP

If you're a music fan of any sort, Chicago is pretty much the place to be these days. Really. JT completely dominated the United Center last Sunday, The National is gearing up for a four-day residency at Chicago Theatre next month, and let's not forget about Lollapalooza and Pitchfork music festivals this summer. (Though, how could you?) But, even if you love to groove in the Windy City, sometimes these events can be a bit...much. Sure, catching Lorde at the Aragon Ballroom would be incredible, and seeing HAIM play the Riviera Theatre may be life-affirming, but the swarms, the elbows, and the nose-bleed seats? No, thanks.
Still, there's no shortage of shows in the city that won't drive you mad or force you to sit a mile from stage. In fact, we rounded up a quick-hit list ahead with something for every musical taste — there's trippy noise rock from Ice Balloons, up-tempo indie gems from hometown girl Bonzie, and pensive indie rock from Caveman, among others. Yep, these are concerts that will satisfy your ears and keep your nerves in check. So, click through to scope out the eight indie shows in Chicago you've gotta see — no binoculars necessary.
