Christopher Kane is about to extend his creative clutches into the world of leather goods. Now that his label is running with the big guns (that 51% Kering stake, lest we forget), the opportunities for brand expansion are endless.
As the designer explains, “We’re building a strong archive, a strong heritage, and that is so exciting, especially for the future prospect of leather goods. I’d love to see a Christopher Kane bag, a staple bag that could carry on for five years, 10 years. We have a rich archive of leathers and fabrics that could easily fall into a bag category.”

While we’ve always been a fan of his squishy see-through clutches, we’re intrigued to see how the designer takes on the rather over-saturated market of the leather bag. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see as he is taking his time with this new project. No pressure, Christopher, no pressure. (WWD)
