Winky, catchphrase-embossed sweatshirts are everywhere, and with brands like Rodarte and H&M getting in on the game, you have so many statements to choose from. That said, you're a unique individual. And, thus far, you haven't found the one ironic-phrase top that perfectly expresses what's on your mind. Or, maybe you're a trendsetter with revolutionary slang to release onto the world.
Fortunately, message sweatshirts are simple to DIY. All you need is a fabric marker, a ruler, a stencil, and some tape. And, of course, an old workout cover-up that would love a second life. - Metallic pen
- X-Acto knife
- Letter stickers or stencils
- Ruler
- Sweatshirt
- Tape
- Scissors

It's easier to use a traditional stencil, but we loved the font of these stickers, so we used an X-Acto knife to cut out the center of each letter.

Lay out all your letters and use the ruler to make sure they are aligned.

Begin painting in the centers of the letters with the metallic pen.
