To help us whip up a perfectly patriotic sip, we turned to mixologist Michael Lay over at Restaurant 1833 in Monterey for a recipe that is not just election day-themed, but pretty tasty, too. The Commander In Chief combines Bulleit Rye Whiskey, Carpano Antica, Sweet Vermouth, Campari, Cherry Heering, and more, stirred in a flourishing glass full of intoxicating flavors. It has our vote, that's for sure! To see how to make the standout concoction, read the recipe below. Bottoms up!
Commander In Chief
2 ounces Bulleit Rye
.5 ounce Carpano Antica
.5 ounce campari
.5 ounce cherry heering
2 dashes of Fee's Orange Bitters
Flamed orange zest
Measure and pour all the ingredients together in a glass and stir gently. Add the zest on top, and down the hatch it goes!
