Is it just us, or does Derek Lam get cooler and cooler each season? With blazers and pants so crisp they look like they'd give you papercuts, and holographic sequins reminiscent of The Rainbow Fish, Derek Lam's spring '12 collection was look after look of need-it-all goodness. To be fair, there's nothing really new here, but that's not a problem since Lam took last season's biggest winners and translated them beautifully into spring—light-as-air midi-skirts, fluorescent trenches, and patterned blouses that would look as natural on a '50s secretary as downtown partygoers.
