If Your Favorite Website Were A Smoothie

We told you about our new favorite blogger, Cloak And Blender, earlier this month, and it looks like our love is not unrequited. Just this afternoon, Nicole, a.k.a. Ms. Cloak, posted another recipe, this time inspired by Refinery29!

The smoothie is a “signature blend of fashion, living, beauty, wellness, and entertainment. For this ‘super’ company, this is a blend featuring superfoods, as well as one iconic fruit that never goes out of style — everyone’s fall essential, the apple.” Aww, guys — she gets us.
We always knew green smoothies would one day become the must-have It Bag of the season. And, Nicole's pineapple accessory game warms our fruit-pattern-loving hearts.
The Leafinery29 Recipe
4 lacinato kale leaves, torn
4 tropicana green-leaf lettuce leaves, torn
10 thin slices cucumber (roughly one small cucumber, chopped)
6 slices gala apple (roughly 1/2 apple)
5 leaves parsley
1 tablespoon bee pollen
2 cups almond milk
1/3 cup goji berries. (If using a high-speed blender, like a Vitamix or Nutribullet, you can add the berries and blend them up with the other ingredients. In other blenders, you may want to soak them to soften for 10 or so minutes before blending.)
Almond Milk Recipe
1.5 cups whole (or diced) blanched/raw almonds
4 cups water
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Cover almonds completely in water for four hours minimum (or overnight) to soften. Post-soak, strain the water from the almonds and add 1.5 cups of (filtered) water. Blend until a smooth paste forms (roughly 30 seconds). Stir mixture and add 1 tsp. vanilla extract and another 2 cups of filtered water. Blend everything together for another 30 seconds to a minute, until smooth. For a less “chalky” texture, strain the almond milk. Chill until ready to use; the milk can be saved and enjoyed for 3-4 days following its creation.
