We try to live every week like it’s Fashion Week, but if there’s one reason in particular that the beauty department at R29 looks forward to the Paris shows with bated breath, it’s Peter Philips. The creative director of Chanel Makeup is some kind of magician: His runway looks manage to be as user-friendly for us normies as they are glam on the catwalk, and his spring '12 look certainly didn’t disappoint.

While the collection was undoubtedly elegant and chic (with a twist that's oh-so-Karl Lagerfeld, of course), the beauty was 100% rockstar. A stat is floating around that more than 150 shades of blue were used for this collection – anchoring them all is a shimmering shade of navy heavily ringing the models’ eyes, occasionally accented with a sky blue. Rosy cheeks and lips balanced the smoky liner, but hair got wild in spiky mohawks and pompadours – a perfect contrast to the femininity of the couture. Personally, we can’t wait to try this look out – but possibly we’ll leave the feather hairpieces to the professionals.

But wait! The models were also seen wearing a completely covetable ice blue nail polish while prowling the catwalk — and that shade isn’t part of Chanel’s existing lineup. No word yet on when it’ll be released, but polish hoarders, start your engines...
