The Celebrity Braid Hall Of Fame

From pigtails to crown braids to box braids to fishtails, we've seen a lot of plaits in our day — and worn plenty, too. It's a trend that may ebb and flow slightly, but never really goes out of style. A-listers are in on the look too, but some moments stand out in our minds more than others. Here are the celebs we'd like to induct in our Braid Hall of Fame.

First we have the inimitable Frida Kahlo, an artist whose crown braids adorned with flowers have become a trademark of her signature style.

Film noir darling Veronica Lake sports pigtail plaits in a still from her 1943 film, So Proudly We Hail!, where she plays a military nurse.
We love her look so much that we're thinking of braiding our hair and sporting one of this season's boiler suits.

Quite possibly the most Googled braided updo in the history of braided updos is Sienna Miller's perfectly coiffed Dutch braid at the 2007 Golden Globes after-party.

Blake Lively is quite possibly the Queen of Braids. Messy fishtails, side-plaits, and long braided numbers like this one seem to have become her signature.

In 2011, Solange Knowles (who has been rocking her natural hair for years now) wears her hair in box braids, which make for a low-maintenance and chic 'do that can be worn in a host of different ways.

Bad Gal Riri's braid may look simple at first, but when you take closer look, you'll see that it starts at her front part and wraps completely around her head. It is giving us some major inspiration for keeping our hair out of our face without the need for cumbersome pins and clips.

Léa Seydoux shows us an example of the #wokeuplikethis braid that has become popular with everyone from high schoolers to high fashion bloggers. The key is to casually braid and then tug on the sides to loosen it, as well as pull out face-framing wisps.
