Meet The Stylist Keeping Dwyane Wade Looking So Fresh!

Yes, the Miami Heat are the national champions. But, arguably more important, b-baller wunderkind Dwyane Wade is one of the best-dressed men in the NBA — nay, all of sports. And who does the pro have to thank for his full-court-fashion press? Miami stylist extraordinaire Calyann Barnett, of course.
Yet, when it comes to Barnett's own style, you won't see the crisped suits and sensible grays her high-profile clients are known for, but, instead, an imaginative and out-of-this-world closet. (Seriously. Imagine Gwen Stefani mixed with Rihanna. It's that OTT.) So, when we met up with her, Barnett showed off her favorite outfits and gave us an ESPN-worthy dose of insider scoop on the Heat — and Mr. Wade! Hey, all in a day's work when it comes to the life of champion…

You've made a name for yourself by dressing athletes in some of the more fashion-forward, notable looks in basketball today. What are some things you take into consideration when you dress them?
"When dressing anyone, I take in to consideration how that person sees themself, how I see them, and where we will see them in the future."

Do you have any tips for men who aspire to dress as well as Dwyane and Lebron? What should they look for?
"I only dress Dwyane, but the key to looking good is an awesome fit. Each garment is tailored for their bodies — whether it's a casual look or a suit."

Is there anything Dwyane really loves?
"He loves switching up his style, which is why we work well together. I don't believe anyone should be pigeonholed into one look. It's all about versatility."

On your off day, where can we find you hanging out?
"What's an off day? If I'm in Miami, I'm usually at home or the movies. In NYC, I like to walk around and find new boutiques and restaurants. In L.A., you'll catch me poolside."

Why is Miami special to you?
"I lived in five different states before I was 6 years old. When I was 6, we moved to Miami and I basically grew up here. I truly believe that the 305 has found a way to marry the flavor of the caribbean with the hustle and bustle of big-city living."
