UPDATE: This story was originally published on April 4.

Now that the snow has melted here in Chi-City, it’s time to bust out your trusty steed of steel: your bike. The lakefront trails are beckoning with their breathtaking views, and let’s face it: CTA construction is kind of a drag. Paying for gas isn’t any more appealing, and who couldn’t use a little old-fashioned exercise? No wheels? No problem. There are plenty of local shops in town, and we’ve narrowed down your search by choosing nine of the best. These neighborhood-friendly spots are chock-full of cycles, gear, services, and tips.

Even if you’re an old pro or haven’t ridden a bicycle since you were you five, these knowledgeable guys and gals will have everything you’ll need to get you back on two wheels. Customize your own unique ride over at Heritage General Store or stock up on the best looking gear around at Chrome in Wicker Park. Happy riding!
