“Love Fool” by The Cardigans, Michael David/DART DJ

“I love to play The Cardigans’ ‘Love Fool’ at events because it conjures up some immediate Romeo + Juliet nostalgia. The rhythm section also feels like a Chic production, which creates a great bridge between the ’70s and more contemporary music.”

“I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5, Jason Fioto/Generation Events

“The best part about this classic song is that it works for all ages and has a great groove that gets everyone on the dance floor. The bass line and melody are so recognizable that guests can’t help but get on their feet when they hear the first note.”

“Cupid Shuffle” by Cupid, DJ Petey/Queue DJ Collective

“If you are looking for the one song that will have everyone at your wedding bopping, twerking, and shuffling — slightly to the left — look no further than ‘Cupid Shuffle.’ Brought to you by the god of love himself, Cupid and his shuffle have been able to communicate across generations in a way that M.J. never could. Objectively speaking, it’s the greatest song ever.”

“Comin’ Home Baby” by Mel Tormé, Genevieve Dellinger/Young Hearts

“Confession: My favorite time for wedding music is the cocktail hour. Everyone loves the dance party, no problem. But, before the reception is when the hugs are happening and everyone is relaxing after the ceremony — it’s just great. With so many desert weddings featuring a midcentury kind of vibe, I love to bust out this forgotten gem by Mel Tormé. Turns out he’s cooler than you remember! I usually play the studio recording with its sweet kick beat, but here is a great live version sung on The Judy Garland Show.”

“We Found Whitney” (Isaac Jordan + Elvis Suarez Mashup), DJ K Styles

“My go-to song is the ‘Chicken Dance.’ Just kidding! Please don’t ever play this at a wedding. EVER. As a club DJ, I like to bring that element to the party, and ‘We Found Whitney’ is the best of both worlds —Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’ with Whitney Houston’s vocals from ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody.’ Tons of good vibes all packed into one song. I mean, who doesn’t love Whitney?”
