Backstage Beauty: ’50s Housewives Get Sporty At Altuzarra

At Altuzarra spring '12, a little black, powder went a long way. Inspired by thick, defined, fifties-style brows (à la Joan Crawford), makeup artist Tom Pecheux went graphic, brushing some seriously striking black powder onto models' brows. To add a sporty, "feeling of heat" to the look, eyelids got shiny with clear MAC gloss (think, Elizabeth Taylor breaks a sweat). But instead going for housewives hair—and to channel the collection's bold vibe—stylist Paul Hanlon kept the locks modern, androgynous-inspired, and sleek.
