These Water Ballet All-Stars Show Off Their Bikinis & Pretty Style!

Since we're in store for oven-like temps this week (90 degrees? Don't even tell us you haven't been tempted to call in sick!), we thought we'd cool you off with some synchronized-swimming-style starlets! If you've been privileged to attend one of the glam events the acrobatic Aqualillies put on, then you know just how much finesse and mad skills these ladies possess. Treading is hard enough, man, let alone looking flawless doing it! If you haven't caught the underwater act, the gals host classes at the Annenberg Beach House that will throw your abs into the deep end (think muscle-lengthening and toning exercises like sculling, layouts, ballet legs, torpedoes, tucks, and marching)!
And, it turns out their graceful, gutsy moves translate well on camera, too, because we have smoking-hot snaps of them outside of the pool providing just as much entertainment. Don't worry, we scooped their beauty tricks (legit waterproof mascara anyone?), too. Click through our chlorinated adventure with the troupe, and we guarantee you'll either be trying to book them for a backyard party, or enrolled in classes, stat!

How did you get into the sport?
"The girls that lived across the street from me were a family of synchronized swimmers. When they babysat me, they would sew sequins one-by-one onto their competition swimsuits. I was immediately sold by the sparkles. I signed up at the local pool when I was 6 (we lied about my age to get me in the class), and then I went on to compete in club and collegiate circuits."

What about the Aqualillies?
"I found the company pretty quickly when I moved back to L.A., and sent in an application to Aqualillies Casting. I missed synchronized swimming and wanted to be an Aqualilly so badly! Eventually I got a wonderful phone call: Was I available to perform at the 2010 TCM Film Festival...for Esther Williams? Um, yes. I was definitely available. And I loved performing so much that I've made sure to be available since."

What inspires you?
"Living a balanced and life. Water and being in the water. Great artists and thinkers of the past. Esther Williams, anything vintage or Old Hollywood. Geometry. In fashion, people that ROCK their own unique looks."

What's your favorite swimwear brand and why?
"I love Jantzen, because they NEVER fall off, and Mikoh suits are HOT. I also like buying plain tops/bottoms and adding embellishments."

What's the best waterproof makeup?
"Tarte. Absolutely!" How do you keep your hair hydrated?
"I use a deep conditioner about once a week — I like Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask."

What do you think about when underwater? What helps you focus?
"I love being underwater; it's like I'm a superhero who just got her powers back. I feel free, totally weightless, and acrobatic. When I'm performing, I focus on the routine and the audience — I'm completely in the moment."

Describe your outside-of-the-pool style.
"Casual, comfortable, classic with a slight edge toward rocker-chic. A lot of my swimsuits double up as bodysuits or cute bras — I'm into multi-use in my clothing items!"

How did you get into the sport?
"I grew up in Las Vegas and was always swimming. I did dance and gymnastics, but once I found synchro, I thought it was so unique and fun, so that's what I stuck with. I auditioned for Aqualillies when I moved to L.A. to pursue a career in acting."

What inspires you?
"Esther Williams and Old Hollywood movie stars. I'm also inspired by female athletes and women who fight to make their dreams happen."

What's your favorite swimwear brand and why? "I'm in love with Jantzen, because you can't go wrong with a classic look, and they last forever. Also, it's one of Sterling Cooper Draper Prices' clients on Mad Men... What's cooler than that?"

What do you think about when underwater?
"I think about giving back to the crowd and living in the moment. I put all my energy in my swim and keep a smile on my face. I try to spot someone in the crowd and make their day."

What's your funniest Lilly moment?

How did you get into the sport?

Who's your favorite swimwear brand and why?
"I've been liking American Apparel lately for their affordable and original one-pieces swimsuits."

What's the best waterproof makeup?
"I love my Lancôme L'Extrême mascara and my Shu Uemura eyeliner that never betray me when I'm in the water."

What do you think about when underwater?
"I cannot think about anything but my routine when I'm underwater. Am I aligned with the other swimmers? What is the next move? Everything happens really fast!"

"After each shampoo, I use Kérastase's Bain Oléo-Relax deep conditioner and Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Nutrient Spray every day."

Describe your outside-of-the-pool style.

What do you think about when underwater?
"It's the calm place when you're performing, so I gather myself. The music is also easier to hear underwater, so if things are too loud or chaotic in the air, I can find my place again in the music once we're under. It's kind of a break. Sometimes, I relax my smile!"

How do you keep your hair hydrated?
"I use coconut oil."

Describe your outside-of-the-pool style.
"Neutral colors, classic pieces, unexpected silhouettes, and something edgy somewhere!"
