23 Things Beauty Pros Won't Travel Without

Red carpet makeup artists have a wealth of product knowledge, from drugstore finds to the very best formulas on the market today — all in an effort to provide impeccable artistry for their high-profile clients. And when it comes to their own skin, they're just as dedicated — especially when said clients require them to travel all over the world on the regular.

In fact, most in-demand artists spend good chunks of their lives on the road, from press junkets to red carpet premieres, often calling hotels and airports their second homes. The upside: They're masters at keeping both their skin and their clients' looking fresh, rested, and glowing through the longest of long-haul flights.

We've already taken you through the five travel staples everyone should keep in his or her carry-on, but now we're diving much deeper: Ahead, five of today's top celebrity makeup artists share the luxurious products and clever routines that keep their skin in tip-top shape at 35,000 feet.

"The first thing I do when I sit down is get out a pack of wet wipes and wipe down any surface that I’m going to be touching for the next few hours, like the screen, belt buckle, window, etc. Since I've been doing this, I’ve noticed I never get sick when I fly anymore."

"When I’m ready with my clean hands and environment, I start pulling out my products, starting with eye cream. This thick and creamy gel goes on and doesn’t budge. It hydrates and protects the skin from the harsh AC and pressured travel elements, and lasts throughout a long-haul flight. After a nap, you awake with a radiant eye area."

"This hand cream sinks right in without any greasy residue and smells divine! It creates a lightweight barrier with a blend of botanic oils and natural waxes, which also soothes the skin."

"This cult-classic favorite is in every bag I carry. I opt for the lipstick version when I travel, so that I’m keeping germs at bay while applying it directly to my lips, without fingers. It moisturizes and smoothes lips and any dry skin: I've been known to apply this on cuticles, toes, knees, and even eyebrows for a glossy, instant pick-me-up."

"In one pump, this spray transports me to a spa-like state of mind. The mix of lavender, rosemary, and geranium smells like walking through an English garden in late summer; truly delicious, refreshing, and calming as well! I like to spritz this before and after meal service, to rid the lingering fumes of food in the air. It's a chic and glamorous version of Febreze, and I [also] spritz my face with it upon landing to refresh my skin."

"The first thing I do when I get on the plane is clean my face. Just like its water-based, makeup-remover equivalent, this is the best, most efficient formula to remove your makeup and clean your skin, but in a wipe! They're fragrance-free and great for sensitive skin."

"Next, I mix this La Mer mask and Sisley's oil and slather it on. This is a luxurious and highly hydrating mask, while the oil smells divine and feels like silk on the skin. It's anti-aging, very nourishing, and I leave it on and let it soak in. By the end of the flight, my skin has absorbed it. It hydrates, energizes, and really plumps the skin."

"This balm is very hydrating on the lips, but not sticky or overly glossy. It prevents my lips from cracking, and leaves them smooth and soft."

"About 30 minutes before landing, I clean my face with a second wipe and put these eye masks on. They keep the undereye area hydrated, and they reduce puffiness and dark circles. Five minutes before landing, I take the eye patches off, spray some rose water on my skin, and I'm ready to go!"

"Eye patches make me feel refreshed when I fly, so I don't care if [they look] silly. They de-puff your eyes, so even a red-eye won't get you down!"

"This moisturizer is a cure-all. It's anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, and helps fight off free radicals. I obsessively slather on this cream (its texture feels like the next evolution of face oil) when I fly, from my forehead down to my décolletage. I plow through jars of this product."

"Again, I don't really care if I look ridiculous — what I care about is having a relaxing flight, and these face masks are the best for keeping the skin hydrated. You can also use them when you get to your destination, if you don't mind sideways glances."

"This product is super-moisturizing, and the smell is clean and fresh. I am very sensitive to smells, so I try to be courteous of others and not use anything too strong on planes."

"This spray isn't super-hydrating, but just a spritz of it helps wake me up before I land. I tend to feel dirty after a long flight, so this is invigorating."

"Once my mask has plenty of time to settle in and it's nearly time to land, I bring out my favorite serum. It hydrates without leaving the skin too oily and has the most divine smell of neroli."
