If you've got a backpack and some wanderlust, you can travel around the world. But you certainly can't do it like the invite-only membership community A Small World. The network of like-minded jet setters come together to experience out-of-this-world excursions in super-luxe hotels and super-remote locations.
However, last night, members and supporters didn't need to leave the island of Manhattan to feel transported. The program threw a glamorous dinner celebrating its relaunch, and the guests' ensembles were as chic and varied as their travel experiences. Dinner tables were labeled with various destinations (yours truly sat at the Africa table, while Purple magazine's Olivier Zahm and ASW-CEO Sabine Heller held it down in Europe) and the food followed suit. Think edible flower arrangements and a globe-painted truffle presented in a balloon. Just as charming? The performance by Grammy-winning violinist Joshua Bell and the too-cute video-and-membership card by jewelry-designer Waris Ahluwalia. Looks like it's a small world, after all.
