Minimalism is making a surprisingly big statement this season. We're seeing a decidedly pared-down approach to dressing for spring — from designers like Proenza Schouler to retailers like Zara and Aritzia. Sure, there are still plenty of Crayola-colored clothes to wear and love, but muted palettes, especially classic black-and-white, are having a major moment. This two-tone outfit from Proenza's resort '14 collection is the embodiment of the trend. Its asymmetric, accordion-pleated midi-skirt catches the eye with a striking colorblock. Notice the contrast is continued throughout the look with a monochrome jacket, top, and sandals. For a hint of color, accessorize with turquoise studs and a neutral envelope clutch.
