The Babes Of Guess Show Off Their Ultra-Glam HQ

In just 30 years, Guess has accomplished what most American brands only dream of: iconic supermodel-filled campaigns that define the gold black-and-white standard and a logo that elicits a heavy dose of nostalgia. While many see the winning brand formula as an "if-it-ain't-broke-don't-fix-it" approach, we've learned that there's more than meets the eye. Each and every image, design, and window display pays homage to the American Dream that the Marciano brothers chased back in '81 — talk about winning tenacity!
So, visiting the fashion empire's DTLA HQ, we weren't surprised to discover some of the most passionate and stylish employees under the SoCal sun. Click through to meet them — and tour the enviable, art-filled campus.

What does your company's iconic history mean to you personally?
David: "Its really inspiring and motivational — Guess has been creating iconic fashion for over 30 years! It has been, and continues to be, an awesome experience."
Erynn: "Before I started working at Guess, I remember seeing the girls on the billboards and loving how sexy, youthful, and confident they were. I was a kid and couldn't wait to be old enough to wear those clothes! I love that whenever I see that triangle on a pair of jeans, it takes me back there. But, now I'm definitely old enough to wear them, and I’m making them!"
Jasper: "Guess has always been in my life, ever since I was a child!"

What item from any of the label's lines are you coveting right now?
David: "I love this Camo Denim Shirt — it has a subtle print on the washed indigo."
Erynn: "The Jorien Western Booties with Hidden Wedge. I'd love them with a great pair of destroyed black skinnies. They have the comfort of a boot with the height of wedge!"
Jasper: "I have my eyes on the Alameda and Vermont fitted jeans because the fit is tapered to my taste. And, there's a really nice bomber-slash-varsity jacket I want that's not out yet, but will be soon. I could go on, but I'll stop here."

Three's company.

David: Guess Alameda Jeans and Red And Black 4-Piece Bracelet Set, Ever Jacket, Chuck Taylor Sneakers

A zen corner of the campus.

What's your favorite part about your work environment?
Jasper Whang: "It would have to be my coworkers — they make me laugh sometimes. That's always a good thing to have, especially towards the end of each season when things get real. It's also a spectacle of sorts, being surrounded by designers, artwork, and a variety of print techniques, wash techniques, denim, and other fabrics that are under development. It's a cool thing to be a part of."

Visual merchandising associate Shaun D'Souza muses on the iconic denim: "I feel like I have grown up with Guess, literally! We were both 'born' in the same year. I only wore Guess jeans as a kid and throughout my teenage years. It's what everyone wore! I remember the black-and-white ads that would appear during my favorite TV shows or flash on the side of the city bus when I came home from high school. To this day, Guess denim is like no other."

Sensory overload — between the denim and the mood board there's almost too much eye candy to handle (almost!).

Rachael Matican, Public relations manager; Chloe Preussker, Public relations and special events assistant; Nicole Neves, Director of special events; Cristina Alanis, Special events project manager; Amy Sucher, PR and special events coordinator

What does your company's iconic history mean to you personally?
Rachael: "I love the idea of the American Dream; that's how Guess began. My favorite campaign is from the mid-'90s with Laetitia Casta and Valeria Mazza — it has such an incredible '90s vibe that I love. Besides our incredible campaigns, everyone has a Guess moment they can remember, which is really cool. Mine is from high school — my best friends and I had to have the same Guess jeans!"
Chloe: "I was especially obsessed with the Megan Ewing campaign in the desert when I was younger. I wanted to be her! I recently found the collection of my favorite Guess campaigns stored away at home. I thought to myself, 'Who would have known that I’d end up working for a company that I admired so much growing up?' I feel proud to work for a brand that has impacted the fashion industry so greatly with its creative branding. Everyone knows of at least one sexy Guess model and has owned a good pair of Guess jeans."
Nicole: "It means everything to someone like me who works in the PR department. The old-school images are an amazing conversational piece when discussing Guess."
Amy: "I grew up wearing Guess, so I've always been inspired by the iconic imagery. In fact, nearly ten years ago, I spent my first paycheck at Guess!"

An LOL moment captured during a much-needed break.

Julian Walker, Marketing coordinator

What does your role encompass from day-to-day?
"Things change quickly in the marketing department, so my day-to-day is never the same! One day I’ll be planning 30 in-store events for a collection launch, or organizing our next major sweepstakes. The next day I’ll be buckling down to manage our budgets and calendars and sending communications to stores to make sure they’re aware of our newest promotions."

What's your favorite part about your work environment?
"The café. Those Heath Toffee Bar cookies are perfection!"

What's been the most memorable experience you've had while working at GUESS?
"Last year I volunteered to help out at the Carousel of Hope Ball for the Children’s Diabetes Foundation, which was sponsored by Guess. I knew a lot of celebrities would be attending the event, but I had no intention of meeting any of them. To my surprise, I got to personally meet R&B legend Babyface and actor Hill Harper, from CSI: Miami. If you know me, you know that there are two things I love in life: '90s R&B and CSI: Miami."

What does your company's iconic history mean to you personally?
"I started at Guess as an intern and I’ve always appreciated that Guess sticks to its history. No matter what, it stays true to its denim heritage, classic black-and-white imagery, and the pursuit of the American Dream. Personally, sticking to my values is extremely important and I’m happy to work for a company that does the same."

What item from any of the label's lines are you coveting right now?

Seun Han, Director of non-denim

What does your role encompass from day-to-day?
"A balance of creative and business meetings, and reviewing styles."

What's your favorite part about your work environment?
"I’m going to sound crazy, but I enjoy the day-to-day challenges and accomplishing what seems impossible. Recently, the team has been challenged with working alongside production on getting select items in stores within five weeks. My environment is very fast-paced, but I secretly get a high from it all. I love presenting the line and seeing my colleagues' reaction to the line. It’s a great feeling to see them smile, laugh, and enjoy the product."

What's been the most memorable experience you've had while working at Guess?
"Too many — I’ve made such important connections and friendships at work. I’ve shared such a significant portion of my life with my colleagues. Work at Guess would not be the same without them."

What does your company's iconic history mean to you personally?
"Guess’ iconic history is the strength of our company and of our brand — from the images, the founder’s story of starting the company, to the passion, wonder, and freedom associated with the brand, it’s a huge responsibility to carry on that history."

What item from any of the label's lines are you coveting right now?
"I'm in a very casual mood at the moment, and the Embellished Sweatshirt is perfect. Living in L.A., where it's sunny during the day and gets a little chilly at night, it's my go-to piece. I wear these sweatshirts with pleather shorts for a dressier and edgier look."

Giovanna Velazquez, Licensing coordinator of men’s accessories

What does your role encompass from day-to-day?
"My day consists of doing trend research, approving and disapproving men’s accessories with my bosses, running around and gathering samples for photo shoots, giving direction on how to make a piece of jewelry better, and many other things. There's never a dull moment here at Guess, and you never know what to expect."

What's your favorite part about your work environment?
"Being around all of these smart and creative minds. You learn so much from them and they truly inspire you to be more creative."

What's been the most memorable experience you've had while working at Guess?
"When my team and I finished our spring '14 inspiration board. It was my first time putting one together — it took a lot of time and hard work to get it done. But, once I finished it, it felt so great and I learned so much from it."

What does your company's iconic history mean to you personally?
"The Guess vibe is very sexy, adventurous, fierce, and confident — so, to me, it's everything that a strong and independent woman is and should be."

What item from any of the label's lines are you coveting right now?
"I'm in major love with several items, but I will narrow it down to the Marciano Aztec Tribal Jacket. It’s a great jacket because you can wear it with a pair of dark jeans and alternate between a T-shirt or corset top for a day-to-night look."

What's been the most memorable experience you've had while working at Guess?
"A couple of years ago, I went to Berlin for the Bread and Butter trade show. We had a fashion show in an incredible old warehouse, up in the rafters of the building. It was so industrial and raw — there was something quite memorable about that show, the months of preparation leading up to the seconds before the models walked down the runway. It's a memory that I will take with me through the rest of my life."

What item from any of the label's lines are you coveting right now?
"Right now my go-to item is the Deckhouse Denim Jacket. The jacket is made of an amazing double fabric — the outside is denim with a rich shade of indigo, while the inside is a beautiful chambray. The distressed look makes it the perfect thing to wear into the summer season."

Charles makes his mark in Guess jeans, Rag & Bone hat and boots, and Ralph Lauren Shirt.

Rachael Matican, Public relations manager

What does your role encompass from day-to-day?
"A lot of my time includes working with fashion editors to get our product into shoots and a bit of celebrity dressing. There's lots of emailing and pulling from our showroom, but also planning seasonal presentations for the editors to see each collection in person and developing really fun and creative ways to present the line. But, in PR, not every day is the same — but that’s what keeps it interesting!"

What's been the most memorable experience you've had while working at Guess?
"It’s so hard to pick just one! I’ve been with Guess for over five years and have had the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and experience so many incredible things. What does your role encompass from day-to-day?
Anthony: "Developing, managing, and executing window and in-store creative initiatives. Arica: "I send out visual direction to stores on how and where to place each style you see in stores. I also pull looks for the window mannequins. Along with Shaun, who merchandises the men’s items, we tour stores to make certain all standards and merchandising direction are being executed to ensure the Guess brand is represented at its best.
