3 Cool Fall Hairstyles And Where To Get Them In L.A.

As September begins to wind down, even we Angelenos have to think about tossing aside our favorite Eres bikinis and gearing up for fall. Thankfully, our mild winters mean Isabel Marant denim shirts and suede booties instead of Moncler puffer jackets. But that doesn’t mean we don’t want to change our hair dramatically for fall to match our cool-weather wardrobes. Even the most ardent sun-worshippers in SoCal are ready to ditch the loose buns and hippie braids for something fresher and more sophisticated. And since beachy waves are as ubiquitous as reality-television stars here in the Southland, we’ve asked our favorite L.A. mane maestros to help you step up your hair game by dishing on the season’s hottest ‘dos. We got the experts at Byron and Tracey, Andy LeCompte, and Warren Tricomi to dish on their favorite fall trends. Not only did we snap them crafting their top tress trends on three real L.A. ladies (with insanely enviable fall manes!), but we also got tips for snagging these need-‘em-now sexy styles. Being a hot head never looked so good!

The Expert: Angelo Tsimourtos: “We’re doing a sexy variation of an asymmetrical bob. I always do a sexy, natural, undone look for hair. We took the classic bob and made it modern and sexy for Fall 2011. This look is softer and less-heavy than your average bob, and looks sleeker when tucked behind one ear. It gives it a sexy, free-flowing feel rather than just looking blunt.”

The Expert: Byron Williams: “The hottest looks are all about the style icons throughout the decades, from Ali McGraw to Brigitte Bardot. All of the icons I love have long hair. For the Fall we are doing Brigitte Bardot meets 80’s Jerry Hall. I like to work with long layers and make them sexy…but dirty at the same time.”

The Expert: Paul Norton: “I love an undone look with a straighter feeling and plenty of texture. I use a large curling iron to create the texture, but want to maintain an image of straighter hair. My tip for this look is to shampoo but don’t use conditioner so the hair is dryer. It’s ok to go in and squish hair around to make it look rough. The main point is to maintain a visible straight appearance with no curl involved. It is all about the texture.”
