The Rick Owens show is kind of like the runway version of Lady Gaga's beauty evolution. Eventually, the most shocking thing she could do was take off the giant hair bow and go makeup-less. Eventually, maybe Rick Owens will do the same and host a runway show without a single stunt. But Owens isn't out of gas. This time around, his shock-and-awe display has come in the form of "women supporting women."

The spring '16 collection, which Owens has entitled "cyclops," delivered a handful of looks with traditional Owens signatures — asymmetrically cut dresses and separates in colorless colors like jet-black and wet cement. The designer also premiered a selection of, let's say, memorable entrances, during which models were wearing other models. He says he was inspired by a "focused vision" that is embodied by "nourishment, sisterhood/motherhood, and regeneration, women raising women" and "women becoming women." To his credit, we can really see this coming to life — in the form of women literally and physically wearing other women.

The overall result of these designs, especially given the presence of straps — which, Owens says, can "be about restraint, but here are all about support and cradling" — is a bizarre skydiving nightmare come to life. We appreciate the message of sisterhood and strength, but when we think of women supporting women, both parties involved are helping the other stand tall.
