Beth Ditto Walks In Marc Jacobs' Show, Kills It

Have you missed The Gossip's Beth Ditto? At Marc Jacobs' spring 2016 show last night, the singer hit the runway in an off-the-shoulder white gown with a plunging neckline and super-high slit, tricked out with silver sequins and accessorized with silver platforms as well as a massive white-feather boa.

Ditto's last catwalk cameo was in October 2010, when the size-28 singer walked (and sang!) in Jean Paul Gaultier's spring 2011 ready-to-wear show in Paris. Ditto also dabbled in design back in 2009, working on a plus-size line for British retailer Evans.

Jacobs' show was a cheeky, Americana-filled homage to ultra-glamorous, 1950s Hollywood, with lots of gowns and plenty of sparkle, tempered with bits of plaid and grungy knits. It was held at NYC's Ziegfeld Theatre, the setting itself resembling a lavish film premiere (complete with the show's hashtag, #marcjacobspremiere). It was the first time Jacobs has changed his Fashion Week venue in 11 years — he's alternated between two locations since 2004 — so why not go big? A live orchestra played tunes like the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage," and there was popcorn and fountain soda on offer. The casting also included Karen Elson, Adriana Lima (she's the face of Jacobs' Decadence fragrance campaign), and the runway debut of Emily Ratajkowski.

And that's a wrap! Thank you to everyone who contributed to the #MarcJacobsPremiere Spring '16 show!

That a size 20-something woman walking in one of NYFW's most important shows, alongside a gaggle of the industry's standard-issue professional waifs, is great. But will Marc make this collection available beyond straight sizes? Now, that would really be something special.
