People Are Flipping For These Disney Princess Lipsticks

UPDATE: David Sheen, The CEO of Jon Davler, which produces LASplash, responded to our request for comment, saying, “We did not name our colors based off Disney Characters. Our customers are the ones whom connected our lippies to their favor [sic] characters. We just thought the names we named our lippies were cute.” He went on to say, “Our creative team named the colors based on their intuitive instinct and emotion, like a parent would name their child.” Apparently, these “parents” just happened to name their children Ariel, Belle, Esmeralda, Tiana, and Jasmine, all at once. Coincidence? You decide. This article was originally published September 3, 2015. We have to hand it to LASplash Cosmetics — the brand knows how to spark a fan-girl frenzy. Fresh off the heels of its Harry Potter lipstick line, they just released a slew of Disney princess-inspired colors. ("A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes"...) The brand's Studioshine Lip Lustre collection is named for several favorite Disney princesses — from Belle to Jasmine to Tiana (in shades of nude, fuschia, and purple, respectively). But hold up a sec: contrary to other reports, not all of these characters are technically princesses. Alice from Alice in Wonderland may be awesome, but a princess she is not. And the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? Arguably the complete opposite of a Disney princess. And, if this was a princess line, where the heck is Cinderella? (That's kind of like leaving Harry out of your Harry Potter lipstick line, cough cough.) Still, we'd be lying if we said we didn't lose our collective minds when we came across these suckers. So, if you want to swipe on a bit of nostalgia the next time you do your makeup, pick one up — they're available on the brand's site and at Ricky's. Just don't expect a group of birds and mice to scurry out and help you get ready, too.
