Rachel Bilson & Hayden Christensen Explain Their Daughter’s Disney-Inspired Name

There are some Disney fans who trek out to the theme parks every day. Some who own all the movies in their various formats. Some throw princess-themed parties from time to time. And then there is a whole 'nother level of fandom — and you may be surprised to learn that celebrity couple Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen are among this latter group. In an interview with the Hallmark Channel's "Home & Family" talk show, Christensen explained that, yes, their 9-month-old daughter Briar Rose is named after a Disney princess. "There's a Disney reference there, I suppose. The original Sleeping Beauty was called Briar Rose," said the Star Wars alum, who is promoting his new movie, 90 Minutes in Heaven. "We both love all things Disney, but Rachel especially was very keen on the name."
"Rachel is like a Disney princess," his co-star, Kate Bosworth, chimed in. "We have Disney songs playing in our house 24-7 right now," Christensen added, without a touch of the weariness you'd expect from a new dad bombarded with such sweet sounds all day long. The Sleeping Beauty superfans out there already know that Aurora is the real name of the princess character in the 1959 Disney classic, but her fairy godmothers call her Briar Rose to protect her from Maleficent. In fact, the Brothers Grimm version of the folktale is called Little Briar Rose. Fittingly, Christensen and Bilson have done a fantastic job protecting their own little Briar Rose from the media, and this Instagram of dad and baby is all we've gotten to see of her.
