How Many Men Did The Golden Girls Sleep With, Exactly?

Take four single women, throw them into a sexy city known for its wild nights, and watch the bedpost get whittled down to a toothpick. Think we're talking about Sex and the City? Think again. We're talking about The Golden Girls.

How do we put this delicately? Blanche, Dorothy, Rose, and Sophia make a major dent in the Miami dating scene. When they aren't tearing into a cheesecake or playing gin rummy on the lanai, these sultry seniors are out on the town, dating everyone from a clown to a Beatles impersonator to (typical Blanche) multiple sets of twins. Sometimes these escapades end in proposals, soon to be forgotten by the next episode. More often, though, they mostly serve as fodder for Blanche's amorous anecdotes and Dorothy's tales of desperation.

So, just how much action do The Golden Girls see? We tallied up every date and wistful mention of an old flame from all seven seasons. Read on to see the stats, then feel a bit gloomy about your own love life.

"Tony Delvecchio is a dreamboat. I wouldn't mind glancing over at the night table and seeing his teeth next to mine."

Sal's widower is known for her embellishments, so we're going to assume that she didn't actually sleep with Benito Mussolini, Sigmund Freud, or Robert Frost. She does, however, totally get it on with Tony Delvecchio, Rocco, and Max Weinstock, an old friend whom she married until the two decided to separate. She is also briefly engaged to Marvin, an old-timer with a dying wife. If you throw in her first (secret) husband, Julio Iglesias, and Toshiro the gardener, her total comes to 24 men. That's 25 including her late husband Sal, and includes three marriages and one engagement.

Total: 25, including husband.

"If there's one thing I remember about my wedding night, it's Charlie telling me it's impolite to peek."

Fun fact: Rose is the first Golden Girl to have sex on the show, shacking up with Arnie, the first man she sleeps with following the death of her husband, Charlie. Much of the show sees Rose coupled up with Miles, to whom she's briefly engaged, but she also dates a little person, a married man who dies in bed, Goofy, Mr. Terrific, and a gangster hell-bent on killing Miles. In the 14th episode of season 7, Rose says that she had 56 boyfriends before Charlie, though she was a virgin on her wedding night.

Total: 30 including husband, 86 if you include old boyfriends with whom she didn't have sex.

"Let the record speak for itself. I have had 143 relationships."

Lusty Blanche puts her number at 143 in season 6, and she manages to score three proposals (from Harry the bigamist, Richard the rich guy with kids, and Jake the hunky caterer) in no time. Our numbers, however, suggest that the lady doth protest too much. We counted 164 dates and references to old flames, and that doesn't even include the multiple men celebrating her birthday, or the exact number of the Flying Fanelli Brothers. Damn, girl.

Total: 165 including husband, plus unspecified partners.

"All the single men under 80 are cocaine smugglers."

Dorothy may make cracks about her hump and sense of desperation, but she holds her own. That's mostly thanks to her cheating ex-husband, Stan, with whom she has multiple dalliances and a near remarriage. The substitute teacher weds Blanche's uncle Lucas in the series finale, fields a proposal from married gym teacher Glen O'Brien, and goes on countless dates, including with a clown, Thyroid Freddy, and an actor also seeing Blanche and Rose on the side. Oh, and we're not counting Sonny Bono, because that's totally just a dream.

Total: 43, including husband.
