Elizabeth Taylor will always be a style and beauty icon, which explains why so many celebs are eager to try out her looks. This fall, Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian are both featured in magazine spreads inspired by Taylor. Perry rocked her Taylor look in the pages of Harper's Bazaar's September issue.
She explained her interest in the actress' style, saying "An icon transcends time. Liz was so fabulous and decadent and had a style that evolved with the years ...and I’m sure I’ll be married just as many times!" While emulating her serial wedding habit sounds tiring, Perry does pull off Taylor's bold eye makeup.

Kim Kardashian also channeled Taylor in a Cleopatra themed spread in The Violet Files, a magazine put out by beauty site Violet Grey. Legendary makeup artist, Pat McGrath, explained the inspiration behind the shoot, saying, "Elizabeth Taylor’s makeup in Cleopatra has been reacted countless times, but for Kim I wanted to create a version that has never been done before, a futuristic 3-D version. I wanted to portray a luxurious decadence by using elements of ornate facial jewelry constructed into shapes that pay homage to Egyptian culture, and of course to the rich exotic character that Taylor played in this role.”
It's hard to say who wore it better, though Kardashian's look definitely goes beyond homage into something new.
