Melissa McCarthy’s eagerly anticipated fashion line won’t hit shelves until September 1, but you can now take a peek at some looks from the collection, Melissa McCarthy Seven7, which will span sizes four to 28. The line is being produced by Sunrise Brands, which also handles lines for Eva Longoria and the “Queen of TV Shopping,” HSN super-seller Diane Gilman. McCarthy is working with her creative director, Judy Swartz, on the collection. Although celeb-“designed” lines crop up constantly, McCarthy’s style foray feels a bit different. For starters, the hilarious star has wanted to be in the fashion industry since childhood. "From grade school until age 20, I had one thought in my head, which was doing women's clothing," she told People last month. McCarthy was even a fashion student for a hot second before her comedic gifts got in the way. “It’s always what I thought I would do. I went into clothing and textiles in college, and moved [to New York] with [shoe designer] Brian Atwood. I was going to finish at F.I.T. and he made me do stand-up on the second night,” she told Vogue.

McCarthy has been also vocal about how alienating it can feel to shop for plus-size clothing, making her line’s lack of separate straight-size and plus-size designs especially wonderful. "People don’t stop at size 12...It’s an odd thing that you can’t go shopping with your friends because your store is upstairs, hidden by the tire section,” McCarthy recently told More.

Expect separates, denim, and dresses, all priced at less than $150 apiece, which the actress described to Vogue as “a basic closet that I couldn’t find.” There’s a bit of a personal touch, thanks to the line’s heart prints, which an artist pal of McCarthy’s designed for her. Lucky for denim junkies, McCarthy just started wearing jeans after a decade and a half without a single pair in her closet. McCarthy will appear on HSN on August 13 to reveal the line in its entirety. Will McCarthy’s design debut be different from other stars’ lines? Weigh in below...
