Elle Fanning Throws Back To The '70s

In the latest news of the utmost importance: Elle Fanning went shopping over the weekend in quite possibly the most adorable summer outfit ever. In a further update, she somehow combined a mélange of ’70s-inspired pieces into one look and didn’t appear the least bit costume-y or overdone. And we’re not surprised in the least.

For a retail jaunt in Beverly Hills, Elle paired a swingy cream blouse with a double-pocket jean skirt. The cascading ruffles, peek of bare midriff, and A-line denim silhouette are quintessential ’70s elements. But, by working with classic accessories — a Louis Vuitton duffel bag and a chunky suede espadrille — the teenage wunderkind kept the outfit from veering into costume-party or Coachella territory. Although we spot a touch of fringe on her neutral Chloé wedges, hey, at least she kept her inspirations consistent. And heartbreakingly cute. Can we tag along on the next shopping trip, Elle?
