We're Really Excited About The Next Big Thing In Iced Coffee

Cold-brew coffee has been a completely life-changing part of our last couple of summers. Even Starbucks is finally on board! And now top-tier coffee shops around the country are finding creative ways to experiment with new trend-worthy takes on the classic caffeinated beverage. Last year there was coffee tonic, and earlier this summer we tried Stumptown's nitro cold brew, which is served on tap and is effervescent, like a beer. Yet the latest trend hails from coffee pro Todd Carmichael at La Colombe.

Earlier this summer, the coffeehouse began offering what it is calling the Draft Latte. It's sort of like your typical cold brew on tap, except there's frothy microfoam milk involved. The textured milk is combined with cold-brew coffee, and the mixture is served cold, on draft. That way, there's no need to pour in milk later, and the result is more like a foamy latte than just iced coffee with milk. So far, the Draft Latte has rolled out only at certain La Colombe locations in Philadelphia and New York, but it will be available nationwide no later than early August.
