David Sweat, the surviving prison escapee on the run in northern New York, was shot by a state trooper on Sunday, The New York Times reports. He is alive and in custody. With 1,300 officers looking for Sweat after his accomplice Richard Matt was shot on Friday, it's not surprising that a State Police sergeant saw Sweat on a road. According to The Times, he ordered him to stop, but Sweat broke into a run and the officer shot him. Two days ago a federal agent shot and killed the other escaped prisoner, Richard Matt. The two broke out of Clinton Correctional Facility in New York state. On June 6 their escape was discovered, beginning a manhunt across the state and beyond. Both Sweat and Matt were serving sentences for murder. Governor Andrew Cuomo is reported to be en route to the area.
