We're Super Excited About This New Spotify Feature

Every music streaming service out there is bent on helping you find new music to listen to, from underground indie artists to pop stars who are about to hit it big. But what if you want to find old music you'll like? Spotify's solving that with a "Taste Rewind" feature that uses the music you like now to figure out what music you'd also enjoy from decades past.

Once you go to the Spotify Taste Rewind site (first spotted by VentureBeat), you're prompted to select three artists that you love. Between five and seven artists pop up on-screen at a time, which you can tap to select, or hit a "More" button to switch up the options. Then Spotify serves up a handful of playlists that theoretically match your tastes and are based on decade, like "Got the Ringtone" (a 90s playlist featuring R. Kelly, Lenny Kravitz, and No Doubt) or "Righteous Rhythms" (a 60s playlist featuring Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn).

Rewind seems like a great way to find music for a throwback theme party, or just discover songs that are new to you (even though they're not new at all). It may even give you a new connection with your parents and grandparents. Diana Ross sing-along, anyone?
