30 Times Ikea Was Everything

Ikea U.S. may be the go-to furnisher of many a millennial home, but the brand itself is celebrating a distinctly grown-up milestone today. Yes, the stateside branch has hit the big 3-0. Whether you're the biggest fan or merely a casual shopper, there's no denying the Swedish home giant shakes things up and is constantly striving for innovation and affordability. Proof? The original catalog from 1985, pictured here, features four pieces (Billy bookcase, Poäng chair, Lack table, and Klippan love seat) that actually cost less now than they did back then. Sorry, 'rents.

To celebrate Ikea's birthday, we searched the archives for 30 good, bad, and weird blue and yellow moments. Click through to see how many of them you remember, and, if you're planning a trip this weekend to pay your respects, use this guide to shop headache-free.
